Smoothies are ideal for enjoying healthy food in a tasty and easily digestible form. What's more, you can take a smoothie out of the house and enjoy it on the way to work or simply enjoy it in a nice spot in the sun without having to fiddle with cutlery and plates.

A good smoothie is packed full of healthy ingredients, tasty and nutritious to keep you full for a long time. Berries in particular are popular smoothie ingredients because they are especially rich in antioxidants (no more free radicals!), are powerful against inflammation of all kinds and protect against many diseases. Pomegranate strengthens the immune system and is a famous anti-ageing fruit. Goji berries were one of the first known superfoods when Madonna attributed her youthfulness to eating the Tibetan berries. Both goji berries and pomegranate have a low glycaemic index, which makes them ideal detox fruits.

However, the most important ingredient for this smoothie puts all others in the shade: Organic baobab powder, harvested by hand by small peoples and families in Africa and made from the fruit of the baobab tree, is one of the absolute top superfoods. Baobab powder is extremely rich in vitamin C and malic acid. This energises the body and the entire organism and boosts the immune system. Baobab also supports the health of the nervous system and digestion. Baobab helps the body to absorb iron better and with all these properties is the ideal detox superfood.

So it's no wonder that baobab fans swear by the powder and rave about more energy, a better immune system and a greater feeling of happiness!

Baobab detox smoothie
for 1-2 smoothies

1 (frozen) banana
1/2 cup blueberries
Seeds of half a pomegranate
1 tablespoon of goji berries
1 tablespoon of linseed or chia seeds
2 tablespoons baobab powder
a small amount of rice or almond milk, depending on taste

Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend until the smoothie has the desired consistency.
