The sweet scrub - sugar for the skin

You often read that sugar is the ideal ingredient for homemade scrubs. This is true, but it is essential to follow a few basic rules so as not to overstimulate or even injure the skin. Once you've got the hang of it, it's really fun to create your own skincare!

Firstly, you should always use organic, unrefined and bleached sugar. And be careful not to rub the skin too hard, as this could overstimulate and injure it. If it turns red, for example, you have been too overzealous! Salt is also sometimes recommended for exfoliation. However, salt does not dissolve as easily as sugar and is therefore far too coarse, at least for the skin on the face.

This is how it works: Mix half a cup of brown sugar with 3-4 tablespoons of organic oil (e.g. olive oil, sesame oil or coconut oil, depending on your skin's needs), add a few drops of water and mix well. A few drops of lemon clarifies and brightens the complexion, tea tree oil is active against inflammation and almond oil soothes sensitive skin.

After cleansing the skin of make-up and sweat residue, apply the peeling mixture to the skin. with light pressure Massage into damp skin in circular movements. Rinse off with warm water.

Brown sugar is best because of its granulated particles. Brown sugar is also antibacterial and contains glycolic acid, which keeps the skin looking fresh and youthful. The added oil can instantly absorb and moisturise the skin.
