They have been working with these farmers for over 7 years and visit them regularly to ensure practices are in line with Four Sigmatic's values as a brand.

China has the longest history of mushroom cultivation on the planet. They have been cultivating these special types of functional mushrooms for over a thousand years - going back to 600AD! China is THE leading producer of functional mushrooms and the only place where you can buy organic, wood-grown, extracted real mushroom fruiting bodies.
The organic family farm that Four SIgmatic works with prides itself on optimising the growing medium for each individual mushroom so that they grow exactly as they would in nature. For example, a red reishi fruiting body is grown on underground logs.

Of course, the Chaga mushrooms are also sustainably harvested in the wild. The Finnish favourite and king of mushrooms, Chaga, grows on birch trees, so we source ours from organic cultivation in the world's largest birch forest, the Taiga in Siberia. Only part of the chaga conk is removed to ensure it continues to grow without damaging the tree!
