Lina's secrets, continuation of the interview with the skincare luminary

Make-up artist Lina Hanson recently gave us an insight into the first interview She reveals exciting things about her life. Biomazing met the skincare artisan again for an in-depth interview.

Biomazing: You get to meet a lot of stars in your work. What was your favourite experience?
Lina Hanson: One of my favourite experiences was when I got to do Portia de Rossi's make-up for the Oscars the year Ellen Degeneres hosted the Oscars. It was just a very special day for the two of them and it was a lot of fun getting them ready. She wore a beautiful dark blue dress and I emphasised her eyes. It was one of my first jobs in Los Angeles and even though so many years have passed, I still have fond memories of that day.
Biomazing: What is the best thing about being an entrepreneur and changing the perception of beauty?
Lina Hanson: The best part is connecting with all these special people from all over the world and getting to have a voice in this industry that people feel comfortable with. I believe that if I can persuade just one person to make healthier skincare choices, I've done my job well. I also love the freedom this job gives me. I can work at any time and from anywhere, which really is a dream come true for me.

 

Biomazing: How do you find the special ingredients for your products?
Lina Hanson: I'm working my way through a lot of research, but I think I learn the most from the local women when I'm travelling. They have been using these ingredients for centuries and know exactly what effects they have on the skin. They are much more connected to the earth and nature and I always learn an incredible amount as a result.

Biomazing: Do you have a secret beauty routine?
Lina Hanson: My secret is to keep the routine simple. I believe that less is actually more when we talk about beauty. Too many products can irritate the skin and I find the simpler approaches always do my skin much better. That's why my natural line only includes a few products, and these are absolutely sufficient for a comprehensive skincare routine.

I start with the Global Baby/Sensitive Serum as a cleansing oil to remove make-up. It removes make-up and dirt particles without drying out the skin. I then mix the Global Face Trio with a little water and massage it into my skin. It cleanses and brightens my skin. I use the Global Face Trio as a mask 1-2 times a week. I use yoghurt or water as a base. I try to keep my skin hydrated and the Global Face Serum and Global Treasures help me do this as an overnight treatment or when my skin needs an extra dose of TLC. I also try to stay as hydrated as possible so I drink a lot of water or coconut water. I also avoid processed sugar when I can.

 

Biomazing: What do you think of Slow Beauty?
Lina Hanson: I've always believed that it's good to look at your skin in a natural way. In Hollywood, I see so many women with plastic surgery and layers of make-up. They buy heavily marketed products that promise to fix their 'flaws' and reverse the ageing of their skin. This view has never been for me. I believe you should age gracefully - it's beautiful. It goes hand in hand with accepting your own body and your own skin.

 

Biomazing: What do you think when you hear the word beauty?
Lina Hanson: For me, beauty is more than just outward beauty. It is much more about an inner radiance, an empathy, a strength, a sympathy that shines for all of us.

 

Biomazing: What does beauty stand for in your personal universe?
Lina Hanson: For me, beauty is feeling comfortable in your own skin. Loving yourself and celebrating the uniqueness of your beauty. I think that when you start to accept and love yourself, you can love and accept others.

 

 

Biomazing: Why do you think Biomazing is the right partner for you and your beauty line?
Lina Hanson: For me, it is important to work with people and companies that share the same values as I do. Biomazing does this wholeheartedly. I am very happy about the cooperation!

Biomazing: Do you get a lot of help from your friends and family?
Lina Hanson: Yes, of course! The brand wouldn't be anywhere near where it is today without the help of my family and friends. They have been Lina Hanson's biggest supporters from the very beginning.

It is so important to have the right people around you. We prefer to work with people we trust, who we can still teach something to, rather than just hiring people who arrive with a shiny CV.

 

Biomazing: What are the next steps for Lina Hanson?
Lina Hanson: So many exciting things! Whenever I'm travelling, I'm so inspired, so there will always be more products in our beauty line. We are also growing beyond the skincare line. For example, we're opening a small online shop this year where you can find all kinds of unique art pieces from all the places I get to experience when I'm travelling. I'm really looking forward to that.

Biomazing: You live a life between stars, glamour and lifestyle and on the other side travel trips to Africa and other countries. Where do you feel at home?
Lina Hanson: I feel at home in many places. I love the contrast and I think it's what keeps things exciting.it also keeps me balanced and it allows me to have perspective.

Biomazing: You met a lot of celebrities during your work. Can you tell us your favourite experience?

It was one of my first big jobs in Los Angeles. Even after all these years of doing make up, I still have great memories from that day.
Biomazing: What is the best about being an entrepreneur and changing the ways of beauty?
Lina Hanson: The best has been connecting with incredible people from around the world, and having a voice in this industry that people genuinely resonate with. I believe if I've encouraged even one person to make healthier skin care choices or feel better about themselves, than I've done my job. I also love the freedom it has given me to set my own hours, and work from anywhere in the world. It's truly a dream come true.

I use the Global Face Trio as a mask about 1-2 a week by mixing it with yogurt or just water. I keep my skin hydrated and glowing with Global Face Serum and Global treasures as a night treatment or when my skin needs some extra TLC. I also try to stay hydrated by drinking a lot of water and coconut water. I also try to stay away from refined sugar when possible.

Lina Hanson: Beauty to me is being comfortable in your skin, loving yourself for who you are and embracing your uniqueness. I think when you start loving and appreciating yourself, you learn to love others too.

It's important to be around the right people. We rather work with people we can trust, who we can teach, as opposed to just hiring anyone based on their resume.

Biomazing: What are the next steps for Lina Hanson?
Lina Hanson: So many exciting things! Whenever I travel, I get inspired, so there will always be more beauty products to add to the collection. Also, we are growing in ways beyond skincare. For example, we're opening a small online shop this year, It will consist of unique, hard to find pieces, made by artisans from all the different places I visit.
