Do it yourself: Vegan avocado mask

"The skin is our largest organ and that's why we need to take special care of it." - Rachel Winard, Soapwalla Kitchen

In September, Rosa, part of the Biomazing team, was in Paris, where she met the enchanting Rachel from Soapwalla, enjoyed the city of love - and of course took part in one of the coveted workshops organised by the Soapwalla boss. There, Rosa learnt how to conjure up great skincare from simple kitchen ingredients.

Soapwalla's philosophy is to only produce cosmetic products whose ingredients can be eaten without hesitation. This is another reason why it was particularly exciting to see how crazy the Soapwalla fans are about the products: Every workshop participant has familiarised themselves with the Soapwalla Deodorant cream and the wonderfully fragrant Soaps covered. Also from the Serum people raved about the face.

In this article, we explain how you can easily make your own vegan avocado face and hair mask. All you need is 1 avocado, a tablespoon and possibly some oil or water. And a comfortable bathrobe...

First, mix the avocado pieces with a tablespoon of yoghurt*. 1/4 of the avocado is enough for one portion of the mask. You could use the whole avocado, but the special thing about homemade skincare is its absolute freshness, and the fresh mixing pays off in any case.

*Vegans can either omit the yoghurt or replace it with a vegan version.

The next step is tailored to the respective skin type: for dry skin or for an extra shot of moisture, drizzle a few drops of olive oil into the mask. For normal skin, a tablespoon of water is enough and for particularly oily or blemished skin, you can add a few drops of fresh lemon juice (note: lemon juice is very strong and can also make hair pigments appear lighter).

Rachel's tip: Depending on your taste, you can use any type of oil for the mask, just make sure that you tolerate it well. In principle, avocados already contain a lot of good oils that moisturise the skin.

The final step is to mix the ingredients together well until a creamy paste is formed. This is then applied to the face, décolleté and hair and left to work for around 10 minutes.

After relaxing, wash off the mask with lukewarm water.

Rosa is delighted and wishes everyone lots of fun trying it out!
