Slowly but surely, more and more kitchen ingredients are migrating from the kitchen to the bathroom at home, where they are used for various beauty treatments - and for good reason! Take high-quality olive oil, for example. Olive oil is particularly rich in vitamin E, which protects the skin from the ageing process and makes it elastic and supple. Oleuropin stimulates cell renewal and elastase improves the skin's elasticity.

The Romans used olive oil not only as a base for creams, but also to heal wounds and treat cramps. Even today, olive oil is still used in southern European countries after extensive sunbathing to moisturise the skin and soothe irritations.

But what is the most efficient way to use the beautiful oil in your own home for luxurious applications and make the most of it? Here are a few Biomazing-tested tips:

In the bathtub
For a moisturising and relaxing bath, add about ¼ cup of olive oil and a few drops of essential oil to the bath water. You can choose the essential oil to suit your mood: Lavender relaxes and creates clarity, citrus scents revitalise and lift the mood, sage cleanses from the inside and balances, rose oil is an aphrodisiac but also particularly beneficial for the skin.

An extra dash of sea salt also has a disinfectant and anti-inflammatory effect and is suitable for gentle exfoliation. After bathing, simply dab the skin and leave to dry on its own. What remains is perfectly soft and nourished skin, the golden oil residue is absorbed overnight and nourishes the skin additionally.

For dry skin
Simply massage a small amount of olive oil into dry areas such as elbows or heels in the evening and let the olive oil work its magic while you sleep. Very small amounts are sufficient, as olive oil is a very "heavy" oil, it is very rich and a small amount is often enough.

Naturally you can also conjure up a great homemade scrub with olive oil: mix two tablespoons of olive oil with two tablespoons of granulated sugar and massage in gently until the sugar begins to dissolve. Rinse off with warm water, et voilà - silky soft skin.
